Artistic Internship
The artistic internship program provides an opportunity for emerging artists to expand their skills and experience through observing and participating in the creation of an original professional theatre production.
Theatre Gargantua is seeking two emerging artists who are serious and committed to pursuing a career
in the performing arts. This paid program is designed to provide an opportunity for emerging artists to
expand their skills and experience through observing and participating in Theatre Gargantua’s creation
cycle. Specifically, participants will attend all rehearsal and creative meetings while simultaneously
assisting in areas of production (e.g. set, lighting, costumes, stage management, and director
assistance). Through this program, interns are mentored by our professional artists, helping them
develop new skills for their future artistic endeavours.
The program will begin in late summer / early fall and continues through performances first installment
of our latest cycle of work in the fall. The bulk of the internship will occur during the rehearsal/pre-
production and performances slated between September 26 – December 5th. There is also the
opportunity to assist with our SideStream Cycles.
Successful applicants will have a background in theatre and an interest in multi-disciplinary work and/or
the collaborative creation process. Applicants should be prepared to make a commitment to the full
length of the project, including attendance at all rehearsals and performances and all creative meetings.
Our new Cycle of Work is called WaterFall which explores our relationship with water as a ubiquitous
and life-sustaining force. WaterFall is a visceral exploration of how the politics, mythologies, and science
of water converge.
