Directed by Jacquie P.A. Thomas
Cast: Heather Marie Annis, Sam Boucher, Malia Rogers, Michael Gordon Spence, HannaH Sunley-Paisley
An aggressive incident leaves a music professor shaken. When the effects of this unexpected interaction resonate through the professor to those around him, each individual begins to question the (dis)harmony of their relationships. Every day we must share the planet with people who have fundamentally different, irreconcilable beliefs to our own. How do we find harmony in the dissonance around us?
Dissonant Species takes principles of species counterpoint used in classical Western music composition and uses them as a musical metaphor to decipher and explore the complexities and nuances of human interaction. Vibration, harmony, and discord become allegories for the inevitable conflicts that erupt between us.

“If there is any modern theatre that has relevance for young people, this is it!” The Toronto Star
“What a remarkable show! Wow! Am I ever glad that I could bring my junior students to this show. I wish the cast could have been a fly on the wall listening to the students unpacking the ideas, images, symbolisms, etc. Congrats to you and your company for making a show which feeds big imagination and unleashes the power of critical thinking and big questions, and…so so much more! What amazing work! You have inspired my students.” – C. Boutilier, Drama Teacher, North Toronto CI, Toronto District School Board (re: Avaricious)
